Gastric Ca Surgery at iCMC General Hospital
Successful Distal Gastrectomy with Gastrojejunostomy (Billroth II) for Gastric Adenocarcinoma
  Patient Overview 
 
    -50-year-old patient with Type II DM (diagnosed 1 year prior).
    -Symptoms: 7 kg weight loss in 1 month, loss of appetite, epigastric discomfort for 3 months.
    -No additional complaints reported.
 
 
  Physical Examination
  
 
    General: Stable
    Vitals: Within normal range
    HEENT: Pink conjunctiva, no icterus
    Chest: Clear
    Abdomen: Full, moves with respiration, no palpable mass
   
  Investigations
   
 
    Endoscopy: Gastric mass, likely carcinoma
    Abdominal & Chest CT: Gastric mass, likely carcinoma
    Endoscopic Biopsy: Adenocarcinoma
   
  Diagnosis
   
    -Gastric outlet obstruction secondary to gastric adenocarcinoma
    -Type II Diabetes Mellitus
   
 
  Procedure
   
-Distal gastrectomy with gastrojejunostomy (Billroth II).
  Post-operative Course 
  
The patient had a smooth, uneventful recovery.
